EMS – Electrical Muscle Stimulation

In order to strengthen weak muscles, lessen edema, ease pain, and aid in the healing of wounds, electrical muscle stimulation, or EMS, uses electrical impulses to trigger a muscular contraction.
High intensities are used in neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) to excite peripheral neurons and elicit a muscle contraction.
