Low-voltage electrical currents are used in transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) to reduce pain. TENS is used by medical professionals to treat a variety of ailments.
What is the purpose of a TENS unit?
A TENS unit is an electrode-equipped, battery-operated gadget that sends electrical impulses through your skin. The afflicted nerves or trigger points (knots in the muscles) are where the electrodes (Pads) are placed by a Physiotherapist.
